When you contact us you need to get a dedicated master made for vinyl releases
An audio cd mastering will have a poor quality on vinyl.
If necessary M Com' Musique can help you to make this mastering with our audio engineer.
Cutting is the second step. The audio signal is transcribed into a master plate called lacquer through a dedicated cutting head comprised of two moving coils perpendicular to each other. Movements of both coils are transfered to a cutting stylus with a sharp triangular tip on the end.
The stylus for cutting into soft lacquer is heated and cuts a spiral V-shaped sound groove into a nitrocelulose layer covered on an aluminium disc Please note that all our cutting are exclusively made with lacquer technology.
After cutting the audio grooves on the lacquer substrate in the mastering studio, the lacquer is put in a special container and thoroughly rinsed with demineralized water and is then degreased in a dedicated bath and chemically activated. It is then sprayed with a solution of silver nitrate, which reacts with the activated surface of the lacquer and forms a thin layer of conductive silver over the surface. The next processes can begin after rinsing the just silvered lacquer.
In an hydraulic press fitted with 2 pre-heated moulds and fitted with stampers, the pre-heated master is inserted into the machine sandwiched between two completely dry labels.
Once the pressing process is started, the labels and vinyl matter are pressed under a pressure of 100 or more tons at a temperature of 160° (345°F) for a precise amount of time.
The surfaces of the grooved stampers are copied exactly into the vinyl matter. After the pressing mould is sufficiently cooled, the press opens and the vinyl record is removed, trimmed to the required size and visually inspected.
